#dontneedapedometer
I was looking at this fancy fitbit device the other day. But then I realized I would have no need for its pedometer function, I know exactly how many steps I take a day: 20. I walk from my car into work to sit at my desk all day, and then back to my car. Thats it. I could blame my complete inactivity on a lot of things: too cold/icy/dark to run outside anymore, the gym decided to make spin classes for students only, etc etc. But really, I've just gotten cold and lazy. I don't even oogle lululemon gear anymore! Any suggestions for recapturing motivation are welcome. Because the posters all over Pinterest, like the one above, clearly aren't working.

Dan and I almost always have a "story" going. (The word "story" to reference a tv show stems from Dan's missionary experiences in LA. Often times older Black ladies would tell him that "They'd love to hear about Jesus, but I gotta go, my stories are on... [insert some soap opera title here].") We've never had cable so we always have seasons of our "story" of current choice on netflix or dvd, which can sometimes lead to spending an entire weekend powering through an especially good season. Over time we've had our standout favorites: Arrested Development, Flight of the Concords, Dexter, Mad Men, Breaking Bad... But we've recently run out of all seasons of them. We've tried a few lately that we just didn't like (Game of Thrones, American Horror Story), so if you have a story suggestion, do share!
#bootswiththefurrrrr
So I invested in some Sorels. I can once again go outside without my feet turning into instant icicles. They're lined with thinsulate, proven to -25 degrees, waterproof, and, I'd be lying if I said I didn't love the fur. Can't wait to take these babies snowshoeing.

So I finally got my first calling post-Monterey. I am the official Relief Society Newsletter Editor. At first I was like, "Wow, what a DI calling." But then I thought that perhaps it will be fun. I can put my long rusty InDesign skills to use and try to create a cool layout. And then I really started thinking...Maybe I could even publish some envelope pushing features: look forward to my upcoming "New Feminism: LDS Women Wear Pants to Church Day - what did it all mean?" article. It's sure to be a conversation starter.*
*Mom, don't worry. I won't really make the newsletter controversial.... Though I may spice up "The Getting to Know you Corner" with more interesting questions.

Stories. . That's funny! Based on what you like, you would probably die of stupidity if you watched my shows. Like the bachelor. Haha. Have you tried the big bang theory? That one is hilarious. Me and Merrill netflicked every season so we're caught up now. You might like that!
Well, I thought I sat all day, but fitbit opened my eye and the fact that it can tell me how many times I woke up last night, just make my day!:) I watch a lot of shows, and hear parenthood is good (can't tell you anything about it, since I can't get myself to like it.) What I DO like is Downton Abbey. Well written, amazing costumes and decor, great story line. You should give it a go. First two seasons are on Netflix and you can watch the third online (technically, it's on air in the USA). Good luck on your new calling!
Boots with the fur totally just took me back to high school, and some weird songs we use to listen to! ha. Anyway I'm not sure how you function up in the Arctic of Utah! I would want to do nothing but sip hot cocoa watching movie marathons in my pj's! Have you tried your Insanity yet? Its really hard/ impossible I think to stay motivated all the time!!! Sometimes a break is just needed! Can I say boom would be very proud of you putting your skills to good use! I really think you should be in advertising, Or journalism! You are extremely entertaining!
Those pinterest motivation posters never work for me either, because I'm always like "Please, those abs/legs/butt are NOT real. Anyone can look like that with a little photoshop!" So, when you find something that works let me know. Shows you should watch: Parks and Recreation and Pushing Daisies (I'm a little obsessed).
Stories huh? We watch our stories on Netflix as well. I think the only story in your lineup we like as well is Arrested Development, but here are a few suggestions, Sherlock (it's a BBC and the seasons are short I think they have 3 seasons on netflix right now, Alphas, and a new one called Touch (just started this one so I'm still a little undecided but Daniel likes it.)
You know you don't have to look cute in the snow.
Have you guys tried out 'Hell on Wheels' or the newest 'Battlestar Galactica'? Both are really good shows! That's an awesome calling. I'm sure people will actually read your newsletter because it will be so cool. The solution to taking more steps in your day is: have two crazy boys like mine that keep you on your toes with all the stuff they break, fights they get in, and potty sprints up one or two flights of stairs. JK.
PS how did you make your blog so cool?? Can you send me some tips (stacieorvin@gmail.com). Seriously, it is the coolest blog I've seen.
